They met on Facebook. She is from Indonesia. He is from Bangladesh. And then love found a way. This is the story of 20-year-old Niki Ulfiah and Mohammed Imran Hossain, a third year honours student of Botanical Science at Patuakhali Government College. Born into a Muslim family, Niki is the daughter of U Lee An Tho, a school teacher in Indonesia's Surabaya. Imran, son of Delowar Hossain, hails from Baburchi Bari village of Daspara Union of Bauphal Upazila. Imran, sharing his story, told journalists: "We met on Facebook about a year ago. At one point we developed romantic feelings for each other. After getting to know about my family, she flew here all the way from Indonesia. Her family is aware of our relationship. I received Niki at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 1 and then took her to my village. Talking to journalists, Niki said love made her make the journey. Being overwhelmed with the love and hospitality from Imran’s family, she expressed her yearning to marry Imran.
