The allegation of question leakage was raised from the beginning of professional exams
The MBBS final professional (improvement) exam question paper of May 7 was leaked seven hours ahead of the examination.
Confirming the matter, Dean of Dhaka University Medicine faculty, Prof Khan Abul Kalam Azad told Dhaka Tribune: “We are deeply concerned and are looking into the issue.”
“Had reporters informed us about the leaked question paper prior to the exam, we could have cancelled the exam. Now, there is a chance of nullifying the May 7 exam. We will give notification after discussions with the relevant authorities,” he said.
Allegations of question leakage were raised from the beginning of the professional exams that started from May 2.
On May 7, MBBS final year examinees (Session 2013-14) took part in gynaecology and obstetrics paper I.
Earlier, seven hours before the start of the test, an unverified question paper was being sold on social media through various WhatsApp groups. Groups of 10 to 12 persons were created that bought the question paper in bids for TK20,000 to Tk25,000. Each person had to pay approximately Tk2,000- Tk2,500.
After the examination, while matching the unverified paper leaked on WhatsApp with the question paper that was provided in the exam hall on May 7 at the Dhaka Medical College centre, it was found that the questions on both papers matched word for word.
Examinations were held in 55 government and non-government medical colleges affiliated to Dhaka University.
The examinations, known as prof (professional exam), are held twice a year. Students sit for the regular examination in November, while they sit for the improvement exam in May.
