University of Liberal Arts of Bangladesh (ULAB) on Sunday launched a new club named '1971 History Club,'aiming to encourage young minds to learn about history, and recognize the value of the Liberation War of Bangladesh.
A day-long program was held at the university's Dhanmondi Campus, marking the launching of the club, according to a press release.
Eminent journalist and historian Prof Afsan Chowdhury will be with the club as an external adviser.
Prof Imran Rahman, member of the board of trusties of ULAB, inaugurated the club.
He also said a Centre for Liberation War and Genocide Studies at ULAB will be launched soon.
Prof Afsan Chowdrury and Prof Rafiqul Islam, the national professor and the professor emeritus of ULAB, also addressed the program.
A daylong art exhibition was also held at the lobby of the campus titled "Women and 1971," which will continue for the next one week.
