UCEP Bangladesh holds a virtual discussion session in observance of the National Mourning Day 2021

UCEP Bangladesh organized a virtual discussion programme marking the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 22, 2021.

UCEP Bangladesh organized a virtual discussion programme marking the 46th martyrdom anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on August 22.  

Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP, Honorable State Minister, Information and Communication Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh attended as the chief guest while K M Tariqul Islam, Director General, NGO Affairs Bureau was the special guest at the event. Parveen Mahmud FCA, Chairperson, UCEP Bangladesh presided over the programme where Vice Chairperson Uzma Chowdhury, CPA, and members A Matin Chowdhury,  Jitendra Lal Bhowmik and Ar Mubasshar Hussain were also present. The Executive Director of UCEP Bangladesh, Md Abdul Karim delivered the opening speech. 

In his speech, Palak recalled the martyrdom of Bangabandhu and his family members and stated the carnage on the night of August 15, 1975 as a dreadful and unacceptable chapter of the nation’s history. He said: “In order to improve the livelihood of poor and disadvantaged community of Bangladesh, the Father of the Nation worked closely with UCEP Bangladesh founder, the New Zealander  Lindsay Allan Cheyne, in nurturing skilled human resources from a poverty-ridden community.” 

Special guest K M Tariqul Islam, in his speech, appreciated the efforts made by UCEP Bangladesh in establishing the grand vision of Digital Bangladesh by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. 

Parveen Mahmud said that the murderers of the Father of the nation could not diminish his dream of a Bangladesh free of hunger, poverty and discrimination. UCEP Bangladesh, from its inception, has been working tirelessly towards this vision of empowering the underprivileged in Bangladesh through skills and education.
