Yesterday, the historic Mujibnagar Day was observed with due dignity at the Embassy of Bangladesh in Ankara, while maintaining health and social distance.
The ceremony took place at the Bijoy Ekattar Auditorium of the Embassy. The program was chaired by Ambassador Mosud Mannan, and conducted by the Deputy Chief of Mission Rais Hasan Sarowar. Messages on the eve of the day recalling the historic event by President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were read by Ambassador and Deputy Chief of Mission respectively. A video documentary on the importance of ‘Historic Mujibnagar Day’ in the establishment of Bangladesh was also screened.
The Ambassador highlighted the historic role of the Mujibnagar government during the war of Independence and paid tribute to the contribution of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman to the rise of Bangladesh. He further illustrated the historical background and context of the formation of the Mujibnagar government and the importance of the liberation war. Ambassador Mosud Mannan urged everyone to come forward to fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu establishing ‘Sonar Bangla’.
While mentioning the achievement of recommendation of the United Nations as a developing country on February 26 this year, he talked about Bangladesh’s prosperity and that the country has become a role model of development in the world under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Embassy officials and staff were also present at the occasion.
