Horse racing has been a tradition for centuries in the South Asian regions. Horse riding competitions can be seen throughout the North Eastern and Western districts of Bangladesh. The local people organise fairs where such tournaments take place. It is said to be a celebration that takes place at the end of harvests.
The jockeys work with their horses for days to secure a spot amongst the winners. The races consist of a group of horses and jockeys with a milestone of crossing a road from one village to another. People from the neighbouring villages come together to witness the events. Even though it manages to draw huge attention, this tradition is soon to become a lost art.
