Wings is a non profit support group for women in Bangladesh.
The mission of WINGS is to mobilize womenfolk from all walks of life, lawyers, doctors, psychologists, entrepreneurs and homemakers to reach out to each other for emotional support. They take care of underprivileged girls of the Law department of the Dhaka University financially, educate them and facilitate to give them trainings and make job opportunities for them.
The vision of WINGS is to aspire to create a caring and supportive society that is sensitive to women, her dignity and needs.
WINGS was launched in January 2014 with the initiative of Tootli Rahman along with other women, who have been working with the women folk of Bangladesh to improve their lives.
Since its inception, Wings has moved by leaps and bounds in understanding the predicament of women and is actively involved in resolving their problems.
Rokiya Afzal Rahman, Vice President of International Chamber of Commerce, Bangladesh (ICC,B), HE Rina P Soemarno, Ambassador, Indonesian Embassy in Bangladesh and Brg Gen Md Manzur Qader, Advisor, Bangladesh Heritage Crafts Foundation (BHCF) will attend the event as special guests.
The event will take place on Saturday, March 23, at Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave Club Ltd.
This year under the banner of WINGS, the group has decided to honour and award seven Bangladeshi women of exceptional personality and accomplishment; who have made outstanding contributions in the field of mobilizing and empowering destitute and marginalized women.
The awardees are Nishat Mazumder (Everest climber), Dr Shahida Khandaker (freedom fighter), Dr Rumana Dowla (doctor), Adity Mohosin (singer), Dolly Iqbal (dancer), Elita Karim (journalist and singer) and Rozina (entrepreneur).
The award giving ceremony is the highlight of the day’s program followed by High Tea. It will start with a welcome dance and a special song of WINGS will be played.
It will be attended by top entrepreneurs, dignitaries and professionals.
