Bangladesh’s Pinu Rahman has won ‘Best of Nation’ award in the international photography competition World Photographic Cup 2019

Rahman is the first photographer to win this award from Bangladesh. His photo ‘Lost Childhood’ won the award under ‘reportage/photo journalism’ category.

Organized by the Federation of European Photographers, and Professional Photographers of America, the annual competition first began in 2013.

It recognizes photographic talents from across the world. This year 92 countries have reached the final phase of the competition.

Led by Mahmud Hasan Shubho, an 18 member Bangladeshi team entered the competition for the first time this year. Pinu Rahman’s photo was selected as the only winning entry from the team.

Working as a banker at the state-owned Rupali Bank, Pinu Rahman has been snapping images as a freelancer for many years. He has published with leading Bangladeshi newspapers like The Daily Star, The Independent and Dhaka Tribune. He has won over 10 national and international photography awards.

The award ceremony for the World Photographic Cup 2019 will take place in Norway in April, where one of the winners will be given the ultimate ‘world cup’ award.
