The oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected executive committee of the Director’s Guild took place yesterday evening at Bangladesh Shishu Academy.
Salahuddin Lavlu, the new president of the Director's Guild, and SA Haque Olike, general secretary, took oath to commence their duties officially.
State Minister of Information Tarana Halim was present as the chief guest of the program, while eminent media personalities Syed Hasan Imam, Suborna Mustafa, Mamunur Rashid and Afzal Hossain were special guests.
This year’s election was held at Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) on September 28. The newly elected representatives will be responsible for managing the activities of television directors for the next two years.
For this election, Amjad Hossain served as the chief election commissioner. Dramatist Mamunur Rashid and SM Mohsin acted as commissioners.
Addressing the event, Salahuddin Lavlu said: “My first wish is to restore the respect of the directors, because a director is like the captain of a ship. But nowadays directors are treated like managers, which is really painful to watch.’
"Hopefully, we will be able to keep up the good work," SA Haque Olike said while talking about fulfilling everyone’s expectation.
Vice-President Kochi Khandakar, Shahid Rayhan, Badrul Anam Saud, Joint General Secretary Hridi Huq, Faridul Hasan, Organizing Secretary Tuhin Hossain, Finance Secretary Sajjad Soni, Publicity Secretary Picklu Chowdhury were among others who also took oath at the ceremony.

At the end, everyone present in the ceremony greeted the new committee by cutting a cake.
