Puja Chery Roy and Siam Ahmed, the popular newcomer duo in Dhallywood, are set to star in the Bollywood remake of their upcoming film “Dohon.”
The remake will be produced by Indian National Award winning choreographer Remo D'souza’s production company Remo D'souza Entertainment Private Limited. “Jalan” is the working title of the remake and will be directed by “Nawabzaade” director Jayesh Pradhan.
Abdul Aziz, producer of “Dohon” and the owner of the film’s production company Jaaz Multimedia, confirmed these in a recent press briefing.
He said, “The film will be a remake of our upcoming production, “Dohon,” and they have already bought the copyright of the film. The remake’s shoot will start from March 15, 2018 in Mumbai.”
“It has been confirmed that Siam and Puja will play the lead roles in the project but we haven’t confirmed if Jaaz Multimedia will join them as co-producers or not,” he added.
The duo first came to spotlight with their debut film “Poramon 2” which was commercially successful. Their upcoming film “Dohon” is scheduled to release on November 16.
“Dohon” recently met controversies on social media with the release of a video song from the film titled “Hajir Biriyani.” The track went viral for its lyrics which celebrates and promotes drug abuse and hooliganism.
People were instantly divided into two groups online- one were defending the song for the film’s storyline and the other were criticizing the project’s producers for executing a film with such vulgar lyrics.
On the other hand, many “netizens” of the country were trolling the lyrics of this track, sung by Indian singer Akassh Sen, on different social medias.
In the action thriller film, Siam plays a young drug addict, Puja plays a garment factory worker and Zakiya Bari Mamo plays a reporter.
