Instagram has dethroned Snapchat as the most-used social media platform among teens
Instagram, the photo-sharing social media network has passed Snapchat as the favoured social media platform among teenagers.
Recently, research firm Piper Jaffray conducted a survey among teenagers which reveals that 85% of the teens used Instagram, while 84% preferred Snapchat, on a monthly basis.
US-based financial company Piper Jaffray was founded in 1895 and they provide full-service in financial restructuring, public offerings, public finance, institutional brokerage, investment management and securities research.
Additionally, 47% used Twitter while only 36% of teens used Facebook.
On the other hand, results from 2017 illustrated a different picture. Among the respondents, 80% used Snapchat while 79% preferred Instagram, 56% used Twitter and 52% used Facebook.
The survey also has revealed that brand engagement was stronger through Instagram, pushing Snapchat down to second place.
Piper Jaffray polls 8,600 teenagers across the US for its annual survey, which is in its third year. The average age of the survey respondents is 16.
