Four more multiplexes will be opened in Dhaka, a project that had been initiated by Star Cineplex.

The construction of one in Dhanmondi’s Shimanto Square shopping complex is already complete and is soon to be launched. Three other multiplexes are being constructed in Mohakhali, Uttara and Purbachal.

On October 8, Star Cineplex Chairman Mahbubur Rahman informed this news at the event celebrating the 14-year founding anniversary of Bangladesh’s first multiplex.

He announced: “We have made three cineplex at Shimanto Square of Dhanmondi, with the most modern design. All the work is completed. They will be launched very soon. Aside from this, our projects in Mohakhali, Purbachal and Uttara have also begun. After seeing the interest and love among the cinema-lovers of Dhaka we have taken these initiatives. We also plan to build two more multiplexes in Chittagong and Cox’s Bazaar. But first we will complete the work for the multiplexes in Dhaka.”

Aside from cinemas, Star Cineplex will also be making films. Mahbub informed that they have begun work on producing films on the Liberation War, women empowerment, and narcotics.
