Bangladeshi actor turned filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed's acclaimed film, “Haldaa,” will be screened at the Kazan International Muslim Film Festival 2018’s competitive section in Russia.
The national award winning film-maker went to Russia on Sunday. The film festival will start on Wednesday and end on September 11.
“Haldaa” will be competing with 10 other films from different regions of the world.
The film is also competing in the 11th Film Festival HyjneshanëFron - The Goddess on the Throne, at FushëKosova Railway Station in Kosovo, and the 21st Religion Today Film Festival in Trento, Italy.
The film's story is by Azad Bulbul, and the screenplay has been written by Tauquir Ahmed himself. The river Haldaa and the life of people living near it has been featured in this film. Issues like the struggles of river-dwelling people and land erosion are the focus of the story.
The film was released on December 1, 2017.
Tauquir is currently working on his upcoming film, “FagunHawa,” based on the 1952 Language Movement. The director has also announced casting Nusrat Imrose Tisha and Siam Ahmed in the f
