Self-styled godman who claimed to heal women with hugs and ‘chamatkari chumban’ has been arrested
In the state of Assam, India, a self-styled godman has been claiming to cure women by kissing them. His “miracle working” came to an abrupt end after he was arrested by Assam police on Wednesday.
Known to his followers as “Chuma Baba,” 31-year-old Ram Prakash Chauhan was arrested for “assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,” as well as “cheating by personation,” reports Hindustan Times.
Until recently Chauhan was a farmer. He took to this “healing” profession few months ago.
According to the Hindustan Times, the young godman, mostly clad in a white vest and a dhoti operated out of the verandah of his mud house in Bhoraltup village where he lives with his parents.
Chauhan is unmarried and has been luring people by claiming to cure them.
In a video doing the rounds, he is seen sprinkling water on a man who is lying on his stomach on the floor. Later, he is seen holding a woman by her hair and kissing her.
