K-Club hosts first ever ‘Korean Fair’ in IUB

The chief guest of the event was Vice Chancellor of IUB Professor M Omar Rahman, and the special guest was Cultural Attaché for Embassy of The Republic of Korea, Min-jeong Cho

To celebrate intercultural diversity Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) hosted the first ever “Korean Fair” in the university gallery. The inaugural ceremony began today at 11:30am.

The chief guest of the event was Vice Chancellor of IUB Professor M Omar Rahman, and the special guest was Cultural Attaché for Embassy of The Republic of Korea, Min-jeong Cho. Dean of School of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Dr Mahbubul Alam, Head of Department of Media and Communications Dr Zakir Hossain Raju, and coordinator of K-Club Raiyana Rahman were also present.

In his welcome speech the Professor Omar said, “This initiative gave us the opportunity to learn about Korean culture and its diversity in a better manner. It’s a great experience for our students.”

The event’s attractions, activities and merchandise were representations of Korean culture. There were also interactive games, live K-Pop music, dance performances, authentic Korean cuisine, Korean skin-care, hair-care and make-up merchandise, and a photo-booth. The event was organized by the K-Club which is under the Department of Media and Communications.
