The possum was rescued and taken to RSPCA native wildlife hospital for check up and advanced care
A great number of people love Nutella, but this possum got himself into a lot of trouble because of his sweet tooth.
RSPCA, an organization based in Queensland, Australia works to protect wildlife especially possums, koalas, kangaroos in local communities. Their helpline gets many unusual calls, but this was stranger than most – a possum with its head stuck in a Nutella jar.
The organization was alerted about the unusual situation by a man in Loganholme, South of Brisbane, whose dog first noticed the possum with his head stuck in the jar, reports the ABC.
The man looked around the back of the shed near the garbage bin and found the little guy stuck in a Nutella jar and wedged between the fence and wheelie bin.
RSPCA sent their wildlife officer Chantel Sibilla to the location to rescue the possum with a sweet tooth.
Sibilla wrapped towels around the possum so she could get him out of the jar without getting scratched by his claws. The creature showed utmost cooperation.
“I put lubricant around the outside of the jar and got his head free, first on one side, then on the other,” she said.
“The most amazing thing was the way he tried to help me out, grabbing the jar with his little paws so he could help me lever it off.”
The wildlife officer said she was concerned upon seeing the creature in such a state as it was not very mobile and could have been severely dehydrated.
The possum was taken to RSPCA native wildlife hospital for check up and advanced care.
Later, the animal was released into the wilderness.
