This time summer coincided with the release of some fabulous films that you may watch with your loved ones. This sultry season began with all the iftar & sehri discounts of Ramadan and will hopefully continue with numerous salamis from relatives on Eid. Superbly enough the season will end with releases of such blockbusters, that you may seriously consider keeping your salamis in the safe deposit your mother guards. Else you may easily end up binge watching films at the Cineplex day after day, with your significant other, or work colleagues or family or anyone for that matter.   And we will not be making it easy for you, as we describe a spectacular list of films for the excursion you are planning for the vacation. So here are this summer’s five blockbuster releases.

‘Avengers: Infinity War’

For those busy comic book fans, who have been shackled by their respective corporate behemoths and have consistently failed to set aside a date for “Avengers”, this is the perfect film to start your Eid break with. The film released on 27th of April and has received standing ovations almost every day of the opening week. Without spilling any beans, let us just say this film will show you the grand total of 35 superheroes. The standards of Marvel humor has been maintained, with some heart-wrenching moments interspersed with it. It is a must for all those who claim that they are dedicated Marvel fans. It is also compulsory for the DC fans as they will have to know the full extent of the film’s awesomeness to make fun of it (I would like to see them try). “Infinity War” is still being screened at Jamuna Future Park and Star Cineplex. So, don’t wait for your crush to reply yes. Just go and watch it.

‘Deadpool 2’

“Deadpool” was not a film you could have watched with your young nephews and nieces. “Deadpool 2” is equally rated ‘R’, if there are any who have not understood that fact from looking at Ryan Reynolds’ butt in the trailer. Bringing all the playfulness from the first film, the sequel some would say is more satisfying. There are also some new characters, such as the super-awesome Cable with his big guns and cybernetic enhancements. Remember the disclaimer, that this is not a film for your children or any young members of your family. However, this is just the film to watch with a circle of friends, for whom you have been meaning to make time. This Eid break is the most ideal time for that. “Deadpool 2” released in theatres on May 18, and is still being screened at Jamuna Future Park and Star Cineplex.

‘Solo: A Star Wars Story’

“The Force Awakens” broke our hearts by killing off Han Solo. For those heart-broken fans, Lucas Films brought out a prequel just focusing on the swagmeister Han Solo. The film hit the theatres on May 25th, and veteran fans of the series are still flocking in numbers to watch this film that will help reach Solo fandom reach yet another crescendo. This Eid break may just give you the opportunity to get tickets for good seats for your large number of pals who are gaga over the Star Wars. Go and watch the story of how the boy Han makes the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs. Let there be more ‘solo’. Please!

‘Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’

This is for the paleontologists, Ross-fans, and dinosaur lovers. The original trilogy of Jurassic Park was awe-inspiring and this is also for those who reminisce about it. This film is the sequel to “Jurassic World” released in 2015, starring Chris Pratt who is trying to take himself too seriously as an actor. I miss his childish antics in “Parks and Recreations”. However, I highly recommend watching this film for two reasons. Reason number one is the awesome CGI used to bring dinosaurs to life. And the second is that, there is going to be more of that super cool Gyrosphere action. Watch the first film to know that it is the coolest ride in existence, especially if there are dinosaurs. This film is scheduled to release on June 22nd, and you can take your date to Star Cineplex to watch this dino-film (I hope this coinage catches on).

Incredibles 2’

Everyone, who watched “The Incredibles,” was left with the cravings to see more of this super-hero family. Now to satiate their cravings “Incredibles 2” is scheduled to come to Star Cineplex on June 15. The trailers for the film have given us very few glimpses of what is to come, so the wait has been excruciating for the fans and me. I am very interested to find out the full extent of the powers held by the baby of the Parr family, and I hope you are to. So keep your schedules free for this amazing treat.

There are many more films waiting to be released from where they came (meaning Hollywood). However, the five above are being released in Bangladesh, so you do not have to download them from torrent and cheat the film-makers off their precious buck. Go to the theatres to watch these films with your family (except “Deadpool 2”), friends, acquaintances, colleagues, choto bons, boro bhais, significant others, crushes, and any other people you can think of. Remember, enjoying a film at a theatre is fun. Enjoying with people is more fun.
