This Eid-ul-Fitr will see a release of both “Poramon” and “Poramon 2” simultaneously, in a manner of speaking. The first film in the series will be on TV for the first time, on Maasranga Television, the day after Eid at 2:30PM.  The much-awaited sequel, “Poramon 2”, will be released on the silver screen a day earlier, on Eid day, in both local and international movie theatres.

“Poramon,” directed by Zakir Hossain Raju and produced by Jaaz Multimedia, was released in 2013, and was the most commercially successful film that year. The screenplay was adapted from a true story of Bandarban, where the movie was mostly shot. The film starred Mahia Mahi, Saimon Sadik, Anisur Rahman Milon, Aliraj, Monira Mithu, Bipasha Kabir, Misha Showdagor, and many other actors.

“Poramon 2” has a new director, Raihan Rafi, and is mostly shot in Meherpur. The film will debut a new screen pairing of Siam Ahmed and Puja Chery. Like the previous film, this is also a romantic movie.

Marketing and Content Executive of Jaaz Multimedia, Md. Shakib Hasan, commented to Showtime: “We are very excited about this dream project being realized. We feel it is one of the best of Bangladeshi cinema, made while maintaining international standards, so we want to promote it both locally and internationally. Therefore, this film will be screened in more than 50 national theatres and a few international ones.”
