Meher Afroz Shaon will direct an adaptation of “Botol Bhoot,” a story by iconic writer Humayun Ahmed, as a five-part TV serial to be released during Eid on Duronto TV.
The story is about a seven year old child named Humayun, who is given a bottle containing a ghost resembling Rabindranath Tagore. Humayun regularly suffers due to scoldings from his math teacher in school and his eldest uncle at home. The child makes a plea to the ghost to solve his problems. With assistance from the ghost in the bottle, Humayun’s team Royal Bengal Club wins a Football match in his school. He decides at one point to acknowledge the ghost for all his help, but can no longer find him in the bottle.
Shaon said: “Humayun Ahmed has worked for children many times. All the child characters of his TV career had special meaning attached to them. Since Duronto TV is exclusively working for children, therefore we decided to make ‘Botol Bhoot’ as a serial for children.”
Shaon is a National Film Award winning actor, director, and playback singer, who was married to the celebrated writer Humayun Ahmed from 2005 until his death in 2012.
The series will air at 1:30pm and 8:00pm on Duronto TV for five consecutive days, starting this Eid.
