Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) began his spiritual quest through meditation, yet meditation or exploration of the mind is not a part of the popular Islamic way of life today. It was through meditation that beloved Mohammed (pbuh) was able to unleash his atomic mind and communicate with Angel Gabriel, other Prophets and Allah. It was through his atomic mind that he recalled the importance of the spine in human development, namaz and movement in unison, and that namaz can help us connect with our deepest wisdom. The ignorance of the House of Saud and the lack of education and foresight tries to keep us from our heritage of deep eternal peace - everything beloved Mohammed (pbuh) discovered at a time when neuroscience was not even a fraction of what we can verify today.
This Ramadan, let us return to meditation. Start with just 20 minutes a day. The following instructions are by the men who taught me meditation, in particular Tariq Hamid. Born before pre-partition India, till this day I do not know where exactly he was from. His friendships ranged from mullahs, mystics, the Beatles, Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan to local kids hanging out on the streets where he happened to walk.
