By-election to Faridpur-2 to be held on November 5
The late Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury's son Shahdab Akbar Labu has collected nomination paper to contest the upcoming by-polls to Faridpur-2, the constituency which fell vacant with the death of the Awami League presidium member.
Labu collected the paper from the party president’s office in Dhanmondi on Thursday.
He told reporters over the phone that his mother, Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, had worked for the party her whole life. “She was behind the extensive development in the Saltha-Nagarkanda region.”
“I want to work alongside the people like my mother, following the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina,” he added.

According to the Election Commission’s schedule, the deadline for submitting nomination papers is October 10. The nominations will then be scrutinized until October 12, while the last date for withdrawing candidacy is September 19. Electronic voting machines (EVM) will be used to cast votes.
