ULAB organizes event on sustainable social change

Participants share experiences with diversity and tolerance, and how they are promoting these values in their communities

University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) organized a learning and networking event on sustainable social change for students who have completed the university’s Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

The event, titled “Creating Sustainable Social Change through Diversity and Tolerance”, was hosted by ULAB’s Center for Enterprise and Society (CES) on April 21, said a press release.

ULAB Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Shamsad Mortuza delivered the opening remarks.

Afterwards, Prof Sumon Rahman delivered a lecture on building a sustainable information ecosystem, and Assistant Prof Tawhida Jahan delivered a lecture on diversity and tolerance in everyday life.

The event was well-attended by students from five different universities — North South University, Independent University, Bangladesh, American International University-Bangladesh, Brac University, and Dhaka University.

There were a total of around 90 participants and a lively discussion, following which students shared their own experiences with diversity and tolerance and how they were promoting these values in their communities.

This event was part of an ongoing project by CES at ULAB that has been implemented since 2016.

This project was ranked 39 globally in 2021 by Wuri Ranking, read the press release.
