Price hike: LDA’s half-day strike observed in Dhaka

The shutdown started at 6am and will continue till 12pm

The 12-hour nationwide strike enforced by the Left Democratic Alliance (LDA), protesting the recent price hike of daily essentials, was observed in Dhaka.

The shutdown started at 6am and continued till 12pm.

Party activists carried out several processions around 7am in Shahbagh and Paltan area amid police presence.

The public transport was running unhindered on Thursday morning. Private cars moved normally through Shahbagh as well.

However, a clash broke out with commuters when the protesters blocked the Paltan area.

Agitators vandalized several private cars while chanting slogans against the recent price hike of daily essentials.

The banking area in Motijheel remained unaffected. 

Hospitals, emergency service vehicles such as ambulances, fire services, vehicles carrying dead bodies, media vehicles, drug stores, and food hotels will be exempted from the hartal.
