'Coordinated initiatives are must to protect cities from climate change, inadequate urbanization'
Climate experts, researchers and government officials at a programme on Sunday opined that coordinated initiatives are must to protect cities from becoming vulnerable against climate change, disaster problems and irrational urbanization m The opinions came during a a program on "Climate resilient cities: in search of alternatives," organised by ActionAid Bangladesh at the Institute of Architects Bangladesh, Dhaka on Sunday. At the beginning of the program, Farah Kabir, country director of ActionAid Bangladesh, presented a paper on the topic that said the effects of climate change have already become clear in the cities of Bangladesh. UNDP Bangladesh Assistant Country Director Khurshid Alam said: "Bangladesh has detected the problems. The political power and awareness of the mayors of different cities have to be be increased. "
