The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) recently has ordered mobile phone operators to stop sending Bangla messages in English letters.
BTRC has sent the order to all operators, directing them to introduce the service immediately.
They have been ordered to send Bangla messages in Bangla letters, said BTRC sources.
According to the order, all mobile phone operators will inform customers of a “no disturb policy” within 10 working days.
BTRC also asked operators not to engage in any promotional campaigns by SMS to customers during prayer times or between 12a.m. and 6 a.m..
TIM Nurul Kabir, secretary general of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh, welcomed the BTRC order.
