Finance Minister AMA Muhith has said a decision on excise duty on bank deposits of Tk 100,000 in the proposed budget will be changed on June 28.
“I have assured the media that the excise duty on bank deposit will be changed, since people from different quarters raised concerns and asked for the duty to be reduced,” he told reporters on Sunday while at an agreement signing ceremony with 16 state run-banks and financial institutions at the Finance Ministry auditorium.

He said: “We will have to wait until June 28 for a decision on the excise duties, when the next year's budget will be passed in Parliament.”
He also mentioned that the name, excise duty, will be changed as well.
