Aarong officials suggested that customers book their visiting time slots at aarong.com beforehand and then visit the outlets for safe and comfortable shopping
Leading fashion brand Aarong is set to reopen 14 of its outlets on Sunday with special health measures, including customers requiring advance online booking for physically visiting the branches, being in place.
The outlets will operate at the government-set business hours from 10:00am to 4:00pm, it was stated at a digital press conference on Saturday.
During the virtual briefing Aarong officials suggested that customers book their visiting time slots at aarong.com beforehand and then visit the outlets for safe and comfortable shopping, as well as ensure social distancing in the case of both customers and staff.
A confirmation SMS would be sent to customers, after their desired slots have been booked, which they would have to show at the entrance of the Aarong outlets.
Tamara Hasan Abed, managing director of Brac Enterprises, said, “Considering the livelihoods of more than 65 thousand artisans and women entrepreneurs we have taken this decision to reopen our outlets.”
“During Boishakh and Eid we usually make 45% of our annual profit. But this year that came down to 0% since everything was closed. We cannot overcome our losses for Eid but the decision to reopen was to keep the economy running and to set an example in the market," she added.
She also said customers could pay in cash, albeit covered in tissue paper. However, Aarong encouraged card payments. Customers will also have to use hand sanitizers before entering and leaving the outlets.
A designated team will also be at the entrance to check customers' identification cards and ensure they are from a two-kilometer radius, as set by the government.
At the briefing it was made clear that customers would have an hour to finish their shopping.
