Govt fixes rawhide rates for Eid-ul-Azha
The government has announced the prices for rawhide from animals that will be sacrificed on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed announced the rates after a meeting with leather traders at the Secretariat on Sunday. Price of cowhides was fixed at Tk50-55 per square feet within Dhaka, and Tk40-45 outside Dhaka. The price was set at Tk20-22 for goats. All prices are the same as those of the last year. The commerce minister said that due to tannery relocation out of Dhaka, the leather businesses had incurred major costs this year. “Taking this into consideration, we have kept the prices of hides unchanged,” he said.
