Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu said Bangladesh and India are jointly working with sincerity to narrow the existing trade deficit.
“Bangladesh is setting up special economic zones and Indian businessmen can avail themselves of this opportunity which would also help cut existing bilateral trade deficit,” he added.
The minister was addressing the opening ceremony for marketing of Kirloskar Generator in Bangladesh in a city hotel Saturday night.
Referring to the marketing of the generator, Amu said new scopes for trade and investment between both the countries are being explored in nowadays.
Terming Bangladesh one of the most attractive places of investment for foreigners, the minister said there is a scope to export products produced with foreign investment in Bangladesh to India.
He urged the entrepreneurs and businessmen of India and Bangladesh to contribute more to strengthen bilateral economic relations.
Now, Bangladesh has trade deficit of US$ 5.579 billion with India.
