Golam Awlia, has been appointed as the managing director and CEO of NRB Commercial (NRBC) Bank.
In a 37-year banking career, he has served as head in different divisions of various banks, said a press release.
Awlia has a B.Com and M.Com in Finance from the University of Dhaka.
He began his banking career in 1983 in the United Commercial Bank limited as a probationary officer.
He served as Deputy Managing Director (DMD) at UCBL, and in 2018, joined Premier Bank Limited as Additional Managing Director.
Awlia has a diverse set of experience in the fields of credit, retail, card and channel banking operations.
He also represented Bangladesh with his experience at a variety of programs abroad and locally.
He has also attended and participated in several seminars on banking and economy in countries such as Italy and Singapore.
He was born on January 27, 1960 to the late Golam Sarwar Mia at Agarpur (Mia Bari) at Babuganj in Barisal.
