The Association of Bankers, Bangladesh (ABB) on Saturday expressed grave concern over the alleged murder attempt and torture on the managing director (MD) and additional managing director (AMD) of Exim Bank.
"In several media reports, we came to know that the Exim Bank MD was shot and tortured. The ABB expresses its deep concern over the incident and demands an unbiased investigation and action against the people involved," ABB said in a statement sent to the media.
Such incidents would have a negative impact both at home and abroad, the statement noted.

According to a case filed by Exim Bank with Gulshan Police Station, two directors of Sikder Group allegedly tortured and attempted to murder Exim Bank's MD Md Haider Ali Mia and Additional MD Md Firoz Hossain by shooting at them, after they refused to appraise the mortgaged property of the Sikder Group directors at a higher value for purposes of a loan being sanctioned for them.
The Exim Bank officials were allegedly held against their will and beaten at a house in Dhaka’s Banani area, after they were shot at on the 300 Feet Road, by Sikder Group Managing Director Ron Haque Sikder and his brother Dipu Haque Sikder on May 7.
