4 bank officials suspended for money embezzlement in Rangpur

'The suspended officials were first class officers in the bank'

Bangladesh Bank authority suspended four officials for irregularities in coin - note counting, and embezzling a huge amount of money from the bank in Rangpur on Thursday.

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Sirajul Islam confirmed the matter and said: "The suspended officials were Sajed Md Khaled, Shamim Mia, Shefali Begum and Rabeya Basri."

According to an official of the Bangladesh Bank Rangpur branch, the suspended officials were coin - note scrutinizers, and they allegedly embezzled a huge amount of money under the cover of coin-note counting. 

Sirajul Islam also told Dhaka Tribune that an investigation committee will be formed to delve into the incident, and if any irregularity is proved, strict actions will be taken against the bank officials.
