Bangladesh Bank (BB) will release new notes of Tk10, Tk20, Tk50 and Tk100 denominations worth Tk17,000 crore in the market from Wednesday ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
The notes will be distributed from all branches of Bangladesh Bank across the country from May 22 to May 30 (except the government holidays), according to a Bangladesh Bank circular.
The central bank releases new notes every year, keeping in mind their demand before and during the Eid festival. A special exchange counter was opened at Motijheel office of Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday.
Besides, the notes will also be distributed under special arrangement through different branches of the commercial banks in Dhaka region.
The notes will be distributed from NCC Bank's Jatrabari branch, Janata Bank's corporate branch, Abdul Ghoni road, Agrani Bank's Jatiya Press Club branch, NRB Global Bank's Mirpur branch, South East Bank's Karwan Bazar branch, Social Islami Bank's Bashundhara City (Panthapath) branch, Uttara Bank's Chawkbazar branch, Sonali Bank's Ramna corporate branch, Dhaka Bank's Uttara branch, IFIC Bank's Gulshan branch, National Bank's Mohakhali branch, First Security Islami Bank's Mohammadpur branch, Janata Bank's Rajarbagh branch, Pubali Bank's Sadargath branch, Shahjalal Islami Bank's Malibagh branch, One Bank's Bashabo branch, Brac Bank's Shyamoli branch, Dutch Bangla Bank's sme and agriculture branch, Dakshin Khan, Premier Bank's Banani branch, Bank Asia's Dhanmondi branch, City Bank's Begum Rokeya Sarani branch, among others.
BB to release new Tk1,000 note Thursday
Bangladesh Bank will release new 1,000 taka note on Thursday with new security features (Crocodile Pattern Rolling Star Thread) aimed at strengthening the security features of the high value currency.
The measurement of the new note is 160 x 70 millimeter and the new note will be available at BB’s Motijheel branch from Thursday, said a press release.
Later, the note will be available at all branches of the central bank, the release added.
