Bangladesh Bank appoints Ahmed Jamal as deputy governor

Bangladesh Bank Executive Director Ahmed Jamal has been appointed as the deputy governor of the central bank on contractual basis, confirmed a circular signed by Public Administration Ministry Deputy Secretary Muhammad Abdul Latif. The ministry issued a circular on Thursday, reading Jamal will remain in the post till June 30, 2023. Jamal has been appointed as a replacement for incumbent advisor to Bangladesh Bank SK Sur Chowdhury, whose post was vacant till February 1, 2018. In December, 2017, the government formed a search committee, headed by Bangladesh Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Chairman Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad, to recommend candidate for the post. There are four posts of deputy governor at the central bank. Ahmed Jamal will be the third deputy governor, while the two others are Abu Hena Mohd Razee Hassan and SM Moniruzzaman.
