The finance minister urged bank officials to scrutinize project proposal thoroughly
Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith reiterated his suggestion to bankers about properly evaluating any project proposal before approving loans to help the banking sector flourish.
“Before providing banking services, you have to keep in mind two things – to properly evaluate any project proposal and know your clients well,” he said, addressing the Annual Conference of Agrani Bank Limited as the chief guest at a Dhaka hotel on Saturday.
State Minister for Finance and Planning MA Mannan, Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Fazle Kabir, Bank and Financial Institution Division Secretary Yunusur Rahman, Agrani Bank Limited Chairman Dr Zaid Bakht and Bangladesh Bank Observer M Mizanur Rahman Zoarder spoke on the occasion as special guests while Agrani Bank Managing Director and CEO Mohammad Shams Ul Islam presided the event.

“Banks and financial institutions should keep employing consultants to make evaluations so every project proposal is properly evaluated,” the finance minister said. He also suggested the bank officials try to amend the flaws and loopholes in project proposals.
At the function, the elderly finance minister also hinted at retiring later this year.
