The official deadline for income tax return submission is expiring on Wednesday, November 30, 8pm.
The NBR offices across the country will also remain open from 9am to 8pm on Wednesday.
The central bank has issued a circular, signed by its deputy general manager (off-sight supervision) M Ibrahim Bhuiyan, to managing directors and chief executive officers of all banks asking them to keep all their branches open.
There is no scope to extend the deadline as it was permanently extended for two months from September 30 to November 30, officials of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) said.
Taxpayers will have to pay a 2% penalty on the payable tax for delay of each month, they added.
The central bank has also asked the banks to take necessary measures to keep all receipts, pay orders, or cheques relating to income tax.
Banks were also asked to ensure adequate security when their branches would remain open on these two days.
According to the Income Tax Act, taxpayers having annual income above Tk2.5lakh have to pay income tax.
