Covid-19: BRAC Bank employees contribute Tk1.73cr

The employees donated a portion of their salaries

BRAC Bank employees made a Tk1.73 crore financial contribution to fight against coronavirus pandemic.

The employees donated a portion of their salary of April 2020 to the BRAC's “COVID-19: Emergency food assistance” fund, said a press release.

The BRAC Bank launched the fund to provide food assistance to daily wage earners and the extremely-poor across the country.

The members of the bank’s management gave their two-day salaries while others have contributed their one-day earnings to the fund. 

 

BRAC Bank expects that the money would support more than 11,500 families for at least two weeks.

BRAC Bank’s Head of HR BilquisJahan said: "We felt that it was our duty to stand by the people during this challenging time, and we decided to contribute in BRAC’s initiative.” 

Earlier on March 31, the BRAC Bank had contributed Tk5 crore from its corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund to the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.

The bank has also a plan to provide high quality and CE certified PPEs (personal protective equipment) to the doctors and medical staffs for using the equipments in intensive care units, said the release.
