Bus owners association and Jatri to bring more bus companies under e-ticketing system

The e-ticketing system is now in use on 2,354 buses of 45 different companies in the capital

A press conference was held at the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association (DSPMS) headquarters regarding the inclusion of 15 more bus companies under the ongoing e-ticketing system in Dhaka. 

In this press meeting, it was stated that Jatri Services will cover these routes as the e-ticketing partner to roll out as announced before, reads a press release. Eventually, all the routes will be covered in Dhaka city under e-ticketing gradually served by Jatri. 

The e-ticketing system is now in use on 2,354 buses of 45 different companies in the capital. According to the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association, another 15 transport companies in the capital will offer e-ticketing services from January 10, 2023.

The companies, which operate over 700 buses collectively, will begin using the e-ticketing system to issue tickets to passengers travelling on the Mohammadpur, Gabtoli and Azimpur routes, according to Khandaker Enayet Ullah, secretary general of the Dhaka Road Transport Owners Association (DSPMS).  

The technology-based company Jatri, the exclusive e-ticketing partner of this project, has been working tirelessly over the past few years to digitize the public transportation sector. 

The majority of Bangladeshis travel using buses and the company aims to make life easy for the daily commuters as well bringing transparency to the bus operator with efficiency. 

Jatri to date has expanded its operations in thousands of buses across all prominent routes of Dhaka, Chittagong, Sylhet and other major cities. 

As of now, Jatri served over 67 million journeys. Jatri also works in collaboration with BRTC and its services are being widely used across many routes operated by BRTC across multiple cities. 

Moreover, Jatri is also the proud e-ticketing partner of the Bus Route Rationalization Project under the banner of DTCA (Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority).
