Workshop on Digital Literacy and Cyber Security held for media personnel
In association with Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), a total of 50 media personnel working in different outlets in Bangladesh participated in the workshop
Digital Literacy Center and Digital Security Agency under Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division jointly hosted a workshop titled “Digital Literacy and Cyber Security for Media Personnel” in the capital on Monday in order to improve awareness of digital literacy and cybersecurity.
In association with Technology Media Guild Bangladesh (TMGB), a total of 50 media personnel working in different outlets in Bangladesh participated in the workshop, reads a press release. The workshop provided training on some major digital issues like – cybersecurity, cyberbullying, rumours, online privacy, digital footprint etc.
Bangladesh Computer Council Executive Director Ranjit Kumar, Technology Media Guild (TMGB) President Mohammad Kawsar Uddin and TMGB General Secretary Mursalin Haque Zonaid graced the event as special guests.
The workshop was presided over by the Director General of the Digital Security Agency Khairul Amin. The project Director of the Digital Literacy Centre of the ICT Division, Saiful Alam, made the welcome speech at the event.
In his opening speech, Information and Communication Technology Department Senior Secretary NM Zeaul Alam said cyberattacks are increasing in Bangladesh like in the rest of the world.
“We are making ourselves aware of it, but we need to increase this awareness-building initiative more. Only then we can defeat the cyberattacks,” he said.
He said the youth now have to be more careful and aware of the cyber world. Otherwise, major incidents can happen. “We have to deal with it through a collective effort,” he further added.
TMGB President Mohammad Kawsar Uddin said: “We believe media personnel will be able to play a leading role in keeping the people of the country safe online through their news as well as their own online safety too.”
Mohammad Kawsar Uddin said that ICT Division is going to conduct such a workshop across the country where the TMGB will be a stakeholder partner.
Director General of Digital Security Agency of ICT Division Mohammad Khairul Amin presided over the workshop.
TMGB General Secretary Mursalin Haque Zonaid said through such initiatives, it would be possible to spread awareness of cybersecurity.
