New edtech company ‘Shikkha’ launches app, website

Courses range in pricing from Tk350 to a maximum of Tk1450

Shikkha (Pvt) Ltd, a local edtech company, launched on Friday for high school graduates and university students. 

They are available both online at “” and on Google Playstore and the Apple appstore. 

Formed in 2021, following the advent of the worldwide pandemic, the company aims to work for the betterment of the education sector, by nurturing and stimulating the learning environment through its platform.

Although the website has already been in operation, the platform’s app will be available in Google’s Playstore and iPhone's Appstore in the next few days, an official of Shikkha told Dhaka Tribune.

“We have applied to Playstore and Appstore already and our app will be available very soon, within the next few days hopefully,” the official said.

Currently, the platform offers courses across several categories including Skill development, Law and HR, Language, Freelancing and game development, Sports, Health and well-being, Academics, and Lifestyle, as well as some free courses.

Courses range in pricing from Tk350 to a maximum of Tk1450 and provide the best instructors in the industry from the pool of our enriched instructors, mentors and industry leaders.

“We aim to create and enable a self-navigable platform so that people can learn various topics on their own along with the traditional education framework,” Sohrab Kabir, the chairman of the company said during the launching program of the platform’s website and app. 

“Our vision is to empower the nation to contribute to its socio-economic development,” Kabir said.

“I have taught hundreds or probably thousands of students in my lifetime and as soon as I got the offer to reach millions more with Shikkha, I accepted the offer before negotiating any terms,” he added.

The CEO said in last seven months the platform had negotiated with hundreds of industry experts about how to bring the best outcome and make online education more accessible, and understandable.

“We have been trying to find what more we can bring to the table and finally it's overwhelming to see all the efforts of our team and the instructors unfolding into reality,” the CEO said while assuring the integration of global standards.

The company aired its first OVC during the event and revealed its logo through a thematic laser show following a presentation at Lamda Hall of Gulshan Club in Dhaka. 

Deputy Education Minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury was present as the chief guest and Mahi B Choudhury, MP, also a member of the standing committee of the Ministry of Education was present as the special guest at the ceremony. 

The deputy education minister underscored the importance of integrating the latest trends and methods of learning and highlighted the government’s stance on education. 

The deputy minister also praised for coming up with such an initiative while Mahi B Chowdhury encouraged the young entrepreneurs for utilizing tech in playing socio-economic roles through the platform. 

Ashikur Rahman Moin, Shikkha’s vice-chairman,  Jami Shahab Uddin the platform’s managing director, along with reputed people from different sectors including Education, NGO, IT, Finance, Corporate Houses, Law Firms, Media, TV Channels, Newspaper etc were also present at the event.

During the event, certificates of recognition were also handed over to the platform’s instructors.
