Bangladesh observed National Textiles Day 2021 on Saturday.
The theme this year was “Globalization of Textile Sector - Development of Bangladesh.”
Marking the occasion, President M Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina gave separate messages on the eve of the day.
“The textile sector is playing a crucial role in poverty reduction, women empowerment and generating employment,” President M Abdul Hamid said in his message.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, hoped that all involved stakeholders in the textile sector to play an effective role to ensure the development of this sector by maintaining mutual cooperation.
Textile Ministry honours 7 organisations
The Ministry of Textile and Jute honoured seven organisations on National Textile Day.
Four of these organisations are Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA), Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA) and Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA).
The ministry also honoured Bangladesh Specialized Textile Mills & Powerloom Industries Association, Bangladesh Terry Towel & Linen Manufacturers and Exporters Association and Bangladesh National Weavers Association.
