No reopening of apparel and other factories before August 5
The government will not consider factory owners' repeated requests to reopen their units before the lockdown ceases on August 5.
After a top level inter-ministerial meeting regarding Codi-19 management, Home Minister Asaduzzzaman Khan Kamal told reporters at the Secretariat in the capital on Tuesday.
The ongoing lockdown will continue till August 5, considering the Covid-19 situation. Although the factory owners pleaded for reopening, it is not possible to keep their requests, Kamal also said.
The minister also said that as the ongoing lockdown will continue until August 5, vaccination activities will also continue under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Regarding the lockdown, Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam said: “We have instructed the law enforcing authorities to ensure the strict lockdown.”
During this lockdown, people in need will get their food assistance from the concerned deputy commissioners (DC), and upazila nirbahi officers (UNO) under the government's social safety net program, he added.
