This Eid, bKash users can donate to various charity organizations from the comfort of their homes using the bKash app and website, and stay engaged with a number of humanitarian activities throughout the year.
So far 875,000 customers have donated a total of Tk29 crore to numerous organizations, assisting disadvantaged people combat the Covid-19-imposed financial crisis, said a press release.
Currently, customers can donate to 60 organizations, including: Ek Takay Ahar, Obhizatrik Foundation, Quantum Foundation, Sajida Foundation, Shakti Foundation for Disadvantaged Women, Anjuman Mufidul Islam, Bangladesh Thalassemia Foundation, Brac and the Center for Zakat Management.
Other popular organizations accepting donations through bKash include Dhaka Ahsania Mission, SOS Children’s Villages Bangladesh, Liberation War Museum, icddr,b, National Liver Foundation of Bangladesh, Alter Youth, Esho Shobai, MASTUL Foundation, Mojar School (An Odommo Bangladesh Foundation initiative), Embassy of the State of Palestine, and Mirzapur Ex-Cadets' Association and Tasauf Foundation.
In order to donate, donors must select “Donation” from the “More” option on the bKash app.
They may then choose their preferred organization. Next, they must enter the donation amount, along with their name and email ID. If desired, one can keep their identity hidden by selecting the “unwilling to reveal identity” option.
After clicking “submit” and entering their PIN number, the process will be completed. Customers will eventually receive a receipt acknowledgement message.
Users will get the opportunity to learn more about their chosen organization in the next page. To know more about the usage of their donation, donors can contact the email ID shown on the screen.
Besides the app, users can donate and learn about the initiative by visiting the organization’s website
Through bKash, individuals can provide zakat, food aid, Covid-19-prevention support, educational and medical assistance, etc. for labourers and marginalized groups.
