Update : 29 Apr 2021, 07:30 PM

The Ministry of Commerce will observe a special service week from Friday to May 6 on the occasion of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has directed all ministries to observe special service week to ensure uninterrupted services to the people, including price control of necessary commodities, during Ramadan and ahead of Eid.

The commerce ministry has instructed all the agencies under it to take special plans ahead of the special service week following directives from the PMO.

It has intensified market monitoring activities in the interest of maintaining the normal supply of essential commodities in the market ahead of the week.

The Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will take steps to distribute more essential items among the people during the special service week. TCB will also distribute free masks among people to contribute to preventing Covid-19 and will use special banners to make the general people aware of the health directives during this time.

The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate will intensify its market surveillance activities, including on Fridays and Saturdays, across the country to keep the stock and supply of essential commodities, and purchase and sale at fair prices.

On the occasion of special service week, a help desk will be set up by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) to provide services within the date of application for all certificates of origin issued in favour of the exporting company.

In addition, a “consultation desk” will be set up to provide any advice on exports.

Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms (RJSC) will assist the service recipients in filling up the online application for company registration in the single process and will complete the mortgage registration (online) work within two days and automatically issue the certificate via email.

It will also undertake a crash program to record pending returns related to the share transfers and a crash programme to settle long-pending returns. Besides, the office will open the video portal and provide certified copies through the one-stop service (OSS).

The Bangladesh Tea Board will continue to assist in the distribution of fertilizer at subsidized prices to all tea gardens in the country and issue online tea export licences to keep tea production normal in the country this season.

The auction activities for the 2021-22 auction year will start on May 3 in Chittagong and Sreemangal.

The tea board will continue to provide customer-level tea information and technology services through the two apps — Two Pages One Twenty and Tea Service.

It will carry on providing advice to those involved in tea production regarding soil testing, tea sample testing, and pesticide analysis.
