CENTURY’S OLD LIVELIHOOD DONE AWAY

Hacking bamboo and cane from the jungle and selling those to the markets along the borders to India and Myanmar have become the only source of livelihood for tribal people in the Chittagong Hill Tracts in the face of global warming, which has dried up water resources in the region and led to soil erosion.  Crop cultivation, as a result, is off the table for them now.
