Even amid the pandemic, business has been brisk for the pitha sellers
With the air getting nippier by the day, the pavements in Dhaka’s busy roads, like every year, are getting populated by food stands serving a smorgasbord of rice flour-based sweet and savoury fritters, pastries, pancakes and dumplings. Called pithas, they are mostly prepared and enjoyed during winter as some of the ingredients needed such as date tree molasses, palm syrup and jaggery are only available at this time of the year. The photos were taken at the capital’s Farmgate earlier this week. Even amid the pandemic, business has been brisk for the pitha sellers.
