Also aims to own and operate a company to lease the electric vehicles for a ride-hailing service
3DOM Inc., a Japanese smart energy solutions provider, has signed a letter of intent with Cosmos Global Resources Pte (Cosmos), to set up an electric vehicle assembly plant in Bangladesh.
In addition to the assembly of micro-mobility electric vehicles in Bangladesh, the JVC between 3DOM and Cosmos also aims to own and operate a company to lease the electric vehicles for a ride-hailing service.
“CGR is proud to partner with 3DOM in this sustainable venture, fulfilling our dream to a greener and cleaner Bangladesh,” said Enayetullah Khan, group president and chief executive officer of Cosmos Global Resources, Singapore, whose businesses include energy, technology, media, resources, logistics, water and defence.
The JVC marks a major milestone in the cooperation between companies from Japan and Bangladesh in the area of sustainability and renewable energy and will help Bangladesh achieve the goal of eliminating CO2 emissions by replacing combustion engine vehicles with electric vehicles.
3DOM’s battery technology will help make electric vehicles more affordable.
“Using 3DOM’s unique Lithium-Ion Battery Technology for these electric vehicles will play an important role in helping Bangladesh move towards its goal of zero carbon emissions,” said 3DOM’s President & Group CEO Masataka Matsumura.
Established in 2014, the Yokohama-based 3DOM Inc. innovates and develops cutting-edge lithium rechargeable battery tech that puts it at the centre of energy as it aims to power everything, everywhere, for everyone.
With its advanced battery technology, 3DOM strives to resolve energy issues and build sustainable societies by researching, developing and designing next-generation batteries, and by deploying on global scale businesses that use these technologies.
Through innovation in battery manufacturing, reuse and recycling, and the development and deployment of applications across aerospace, aviation, marine, mobile and storage, 3DOM is digitally transforming every aspect of the battery’s lifecycle, providing a social platform for the mobility of energy, people and things and allowing for the innovative business model of “battery as a service”.
