Banglalink, the country’s third-largest operator, eclipsed its South Asian counterparts to come first in Opensignal’s Global Mobile Network Experience Awardsfor its download and upload speed.
The operator, which markets its 4G speed as the fastest in Bangladesh, improved its marks in both the segment from last year by 76 per cent and 180 per cent respectively.
It also appeared in 4G availability and video experience segments for the report by Opensignal, an independent global mobile network analytics company.
Leading operator Grameenphone also featured in the report's three segments under the “Global Rising Stars” category, while Robi appeared in the 4G availability segment.
The report analysed about 186 operators, adjudicating T-Mobile Netherland and Austria's A1 as joint global winners for video experience. Japan's SoftBank became the number one in the world for voice app experience and Swisscom for upload speed experience with a score of 18.2 Mbps in the world.

Once the country’s most spirited operator, Banglalink has fallen behind in the competition against Grameenphone and Robi in recent times.
The operator though is aiming to give the other two a run for their money with its superior network quality.

In the first nine months of 2020, the operator logged in Tk 3,421 crore as revenue, up slightly from a year earlier, according to its parent company VEON.
