To support the vulnerable segment of people during the coronavirus pandemic, Marico Bangladesh Ltd and the Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI) jointly took initiative from Thursday to provide food relief to 5,000 low-income families in Sreepur and Kaliakair upazilas of Gazipur.
With the help of Gazipur Deputy Commissioner and the local administration, food relief packages would be distributed to the 5,000 families comprising of rice, lentils, oil, salt, and other necessary food items, said a press release.
Ashish Goupal, managing director of Marico Bangladesh Ltd said, " It is only through our collective efforts that we can win in the fight against Covid-19. This humble initiative is our support towards the local administration in addressing this public health crisis.”
FBCCI President Sheikh Fazle Fahim said, “FBCCI appreciates this initiative by Marico to stand beside the people of Gazipur. We believe this initiative will inspire others to come forward for such causes.”
Earlier, Marico Bangladesh Limited donated Tk50 lakh to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to help curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country.
Additionally, hand sanitizers and hand-wash from Marico's international hygiene range "Mediker SafeLife" have been brought to the market to cater to the accelerated market demand for hygiene products.
These products sell on a zero-profit basis.
