Akij Food and Beverages Ltd launched on Thursday a road safety awareness campaign under the banner Speed, an energy drink the company produces.
The campaign was launched through a rally in front of Akij House at Gulshan in the capital. The month-long campaign will continue till December 15.
Speakers at the rally said both road accidents and casualties from accidents increased alarmingly over the past decade for lack of knowledge of traffic laws as well as negligence in abiding by these laws by drivers, passengers and pedestrians alike.
But with awareness of road safety rules and with a little efforts this accidents could be avoided, they said.
Muntasir Mamun, the assistant brand manager at Speed, said: “We will use different news portals and TVC board and banners, among others, in different places throughout the city to make people aware of road safety rules as part of our campaign. Besides, we will assist the traffic police for branding and to build on this awareness program,” he added.
“Every day many accidents take place because of negligence and lack of awareness. We can change this, provided we are aware of road safety rules. This time we have embarked on an extensive campaign as part of the corporate social responsibility (CSR),” said Maidul Islam, assistant general manager (brand marketing)at the Akij Food and Beverage Ltd.
